Suicide Prevention Training Offered By United Way

United Way Association of South Carolina (UWASC) is now offering Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. Participants learn to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Understanding the issues concerning suicide and mental health is an important way to take part in suicide prevention, help others in crisis, and change the conversation around suicide.

SC 2-1-1 APP: A New Way to Find Help

South Carolina residents now have a new way to find help and locate the resources they need with the SC 2-1-1 app. Individuals can download and use the app for free on their Android or Apple devices. “We are taking the same reliable, free information you find when dialing the phone number 2-1-1 and putting it in the palm of your hands,” states Richard LaPratt, Executive Vice President of Contact Center Services at United Way Association of South Carolina.
