Leadership Transition Underway at United Way Association of South Carolina

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (April 9, 2018) — The Board of Directors of the United Way Association of South Carolina (“UWASC”) announced today the resignation of President and CEO, Kelly Callahan Cruise. Acting Board Chair Matt Hammond commented, “I speak on behalf of The Board of Directors in expressing our gratitude for Kelly’s service to the UWASC and the United Way network.  We wish Kelly the best as she begins the next chapter in her life.” Kelly has served over eight years with UWASC in many leadership capacities. She was appointed as President and CEO in December 2015 and has provided outstanding leadership during a time of great change.

The Board will conduct an extensive search to identify new leadership for the organization.

Kelly reflected on her time at UWASC. “It has been an honor to lead UWASC, to represent local United Ways, and to provide critical services to citizens in need across South Carolina. I am grateful to the Board and our incredible team of dedicated employees for all that we have accomplished. I am convinced that UWASC will continue to be a strong and vital support system for United Ways across our state, while at the same time growing our nationally-recognized 2-1-1 contact center.”
