Hey everyone, I'm Caitlin Carey, the Public Policy Intern for the United Way Association of South Carolina. I’ll be letting you know about everything that’s going on at the capitol from week to week.

Up first this week, the big thing is the budget. All week the House will be debating H3700, the budget outline that was pounded out by the Ways and Means committee earlier in

the month. The House plans to bunker down for a long work week.

In the Senate this Tuesday S256 is being debated. This bill would legalize charitable raffles in the state and United Way really really hopes they do! We recently called all the Senators to remind them how much we’re in favor of this being passed!

The United Way Association is hard at work planning their Public Policy Day on April 6th. On this day United Ways from around the state will come to the State House to meet with legislators! This should be very exciting and were looking forward to seeing all the volunteers!
