Public Policy Update 10-3-11

Related:

Hello all!

At the Joint Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children hearing last month, one of the hot topics was childhood obesity. Many gave testimonies to the growing problem and the need to inspire healthier lifestyles and choices. So when going through my daily readings, this article caught my eye. Researchers experimented with the presentation of fruit in school cafeterias...moving it into colorful and appealing baskets and placing those near the cash register. They also simply closed the lid on the ice cream freezers. And impressively, fruit sales at the school increased 103%! This is an amazing cost-effective way to encourage healthy lifestyles in young impressionable children.
